WHALE SHARK SAFARI

Whale sharks are on the bucket list of many divers and lovers of the ocean.

While whale sharks are most common in the waters around the island of Utila, there are actually whale sharks that grace the waters around Camp Bay during the months of February through May! They have been spotted as early as January and as late as September here! When we get a report of a sighting from a local fisherman, we jump in the boat and go find them!

The whale shark is the largest living fish that can grow up to 40 feet and weighs 15-20 tons with a lifespan believed to be between 70-130 years. Despite their enormous size, they are gentle giants and it is a privilege to swim with them.

To respect these creatures, we observe very strict guidelines and only snorkeling is allowed.
